OREANDA-NEWS.Japanese scientists from the University of Osaka argue that the elderly people, constantly consuming moderate doses of wine, are different from their non-drinking peers in more developed brain abilities.

The study, which lasted almost 2 years, was attended by 1.2 thousand inhabitants of Japan. Scientists have studied the habits and preferences of these residents in food and alcoholic beverages, checked the brain. Of all the participants scientists identified 67 people with the most developed abilities. They all drank only red wine during the study.

Scientists have suggested that constant moderate doses of the drink help to maintain the brain in good shape, acting as an antioxidant and removing harmful substances from the body. Other alcoholic beverages, such as beer and sake, did not have such a positive impact. Scientists have found that the brain of older people who drink alcohol in any form about once a week, works better than those who drink.
