Yale Center for British Art celebrates its 40th year
OREANDA-NEWS The Yale Center for British Art will celebrate its 40th year with a special event on Tuesday, April 18.
The center’s director, Amy Meyers, and staff members will be on hand noon-3 p.m. in the center’s Library Court, where there will be a special display of archival treasures from the Yale Center for British Art’s opening festivities in 1977. The short documentary “Paul Mellon — One Man’s England” will be screened noon-3 p.m. in the lecture hall of the center. The 28-minute film, directed and produced by John Musilli, captures a discussion between the famed art art lecturer and memoirist Rosamond Bernier and the Yale Center for British Art’s founder, Paul Mellon ’29. It features a number of the paintings, drawings, books, and sculptures from Mellon’s collection that formed the center’s inaugural display.
The celebration is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the center’s website.
