OREANDA-NEWS. Transmashholding has met the commitment to ship a total of 10 metro cars designated 81-714.5М/717.5М (four head cars, 6 intermediate cars) manufactured by Metrowagonmash (Mitishi, the Moscow Region, a Transmashholding member) for the Minsk metro (Belorussia) ahead of schedule.

According to the press service of “Transmashholding”, under the contract concluded last December, the Minsk metro is to receive 10 cars this year, five of them to be shipped in June and the rest of five in July. The full batch provided by the agreement, though, was shipped to Minsk on June 7.

Metrowagonmash has been providing the Minsk metro with rolling stock since 1984. As of now, 94 cars manufactured by the Mitishi plant are operational with the Minsk metro to total some 50 per cent of all the Belorussia capital metro car fleet.

The previous shipment of the Mitishi cars to Minsk was carried out in 2005.
