OREANDA-NEWS. The fifth dry-cargo ship project RSD17, built for Palmali Group, was launched at Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, MNP Group. The vessel was named Akhmed Mahmudov.

According to the press service of MNP Group, under the contract five vessels of the project will be built at the Yard. The lead ship - "Mirzaga Khalilov" - was handed over to the customer in November, 2006; the second vessel - "Ismayl Shikhly" – was launched at the end of December, 2006; the third dry-cargo ship "Shirvan" was delivered to Palmali Group in May, 2007.

Dry-cargo ship project RSD17 DWT 6,270 mt of the restricted navigation area is designed for transportation of all types of general cargoes, including 20-ft and 40-ft international standard containers, metal, grain, lumber, coal, bulky and heavy cargoes. Maximum length of the vessel is 121.7 m, breadth - 16.7 m, depth - 6.2 m, draught - 5.06 m. Total capacity of three cargo tanks is 9,37 cubic m, capacity of ballast tanks Is 3,120 cubic m, number of containers - 234 pcs.

Sea endurance of the vessel is 20/25 days, speed - 11.5 knots, crew - 12/14 persons. The project of the dry-cargo ships is designed by Maritime Engineering Bureau (Odessa, Ukraine). Class is KMLU2 I A1 of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, meets the requirements of international conventions. The vessels obtain additional sign in the class symbol - EKO Project. This sign is indicative of additional requirements for pollution prevention at accidents. Environmentally safe vessels find credence of freight owners, maritime administration, and port authorities.
