OREANDA-NEWS. Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO), Sultanate of Oman, a leader in the Middle East energy market, has included Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), in its list of certified suppliers of main pipes.

Petroleum Development of Oman is a subsidiary of Shell. PDO accounts for more than 90% of the Sultanate of Oman's crude oil production and nearly 100% of the country's natural gas supply.

Earlier, in 2006, VSW was included in the list of pipe suppliers that fully comply with Shell's DEP (Design and Engineering Practices) criteria.

ОМК is carrying out integrated work toward mastering new types of pipes for the world's leading energy companies. In April, VSW produced a trial batch of large-diameter pipes with the working pressure of 220 atm designed for subsea pipelines according to the standards of Norway-based Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and the Nord Stream project specification. According to the test results, OMK's production technology was certified as complying with DNV-OS-F101.
