World Production of Crude Steel Increased by 10.2% in the First Quarter
OREANDA-NEWS. The international Iron and Steel Institute has published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in January-March 2007 made 318 million 317 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of January-March 2006 at the rate of 288 million 873 thousand tons by 10,2 %.
Asia produced 173 million 572 thousand tons of steel (16,3 %). China produced 114 million 704 thousand tons (22,3 %). Japan made 29 million 528 thousand tons (5,4 %).
In 27 EU countries, production of crude steel in January-March 2007 made 53 million 746 thousand tons (5,2 %).
In the CIS countries 30 million 998 thousand tons of steel (9,7 %) were produced.
Northern America made 30 million 515 thousand tons of steel (-7,6 %). In the USA output totalled 22 million 976 thousand tons (-6,9 %).
South America produced 11 million 531 thousand tons (7,4 %).
Africa made 4 million 676 thousand tons of steel (10 %).
In the Near East output has made 3 million 793 thousand tons (3,6 %).
