OREANDA-NEWS.  In 2007, UMMC plans to invest 6,5 billion roubles into realization of the ecological actions in all basic production shops of Sredneuralski Copper Smelter (SUMZ, enterprise of the metallurgical complex of UMMC).

According to the press-service of UMMC, director of OJSC “SUMZ” Alexander Bannikov said at the meeting-seminar of ecologists of Sverdlovsk region, which came to the end on April 6th in Revda.

Similar ecological programs exist at other enterprises of Sverdlovsk region also. According to the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of Sverdlovsk region Galina Pakhalchak, 289 million roubles were allocated to realization of the regional ecological program in the last year.

Regional ecologists gather at similar seminars twice a year. This time the traditional seminar-meeting devoted to a theme "Results of work of ecological services for 2006 and tasks for 2007 in view of changes of the nature protection legislation” has collected more than 160 experts-ecologists from the region.
