Vyksa Steel Works Start Supplying Uzbekistan with Pipes Resistant to Hydrosulfuric Cracking
OREANDA-NEWS. Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has supplied to Uzbekistan its second batch of large-diameter pipes resistant to hydrosulfuric cracking.
According to the press service of OMK, about 7,700 tonnes of 530-mm pipes with wall thicknesses of 19 mm and 22 mm have been delivered for the construction of the Severny Nishan-Kamashi-Beshkent gas pipeline. In 2007, VSW will continue supplying pipes resistant to hydrosulfuric cracking for this project.
It is the first time that VSW has made pipes of 08GBF-U sheet steel for the Uzbekistan project. Such pipes of enhanced K50 strength grade are designed for operations in aggressive environments – transportation of undrained acid gases – and meet specific requirements of the project.
The second batch of large-diameter pipes produced in accordance with new technical requirements has improved characteristics and is more resistant to hydrosulfuric cracking.
The project for development of the Severny Nishan-Kamashi-Beshkent gas condensate field and other fields located in the Bukhara-Khiva petroliferous region is implemented by Gissarneftegaz, a joint venture established by Zeromax, Switzerland, and Uzbeknegtegaz, Uzbekistan. When it reaches designed capacity, Gissarneftegaz will produce up to 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
