OREANDA-NEWS. Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant (OEVRZ, Saint-Petersburg) has completed the overhaul of nine passenger coaches for Kazakhstan temir zholy (Kazakhstan railways). As of now, all the coaches have been shipped to the customer.

According to the press service of Transmashholding, thus, the OEVRZ has implemented the agreement concluded with the Kazakh company in 2006. It was one of the largest orders placed by the Kazakhstan railways in the Saint-Petersburg enterprise.

Under the agreement, the Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant received nine passenger sleeping coaches manufactured by Deutsche Waggonbau (DWA), type 47, for further overhaul works. The all-metal coaches are designed for speeds up to 140 km/h.

The coaches were reequipped for interregional communication in line with the customer’s requirements. The saloons were changed to become more comfortable for the Kazakhstan railways clients. The new features comprise up-to-date chairs, double glasses, information panels.

Some other improvements resulted in the state-of-the-art electric equipment and monoblock air conditioning system.

The coaches were painted in a new Dutch spray and drying cabinet launched by the OEVRZ last autumn. The new coating is durable, color-fast, mechanically and light-resistant.
