Vyksa Metal Works Increased Production of Pipes by 53% in 2006
OREANDA-NEWS. In December 2006, Vyksa Metal Works, which is a part of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK), made 164 thousand 851 tons of pipes, having exceeded parameters for analogous period of the last year totalled 116 thousand 640 tons by 41%.
According to the press-service of OMK, as a whole for 2006 Vyksa Metal Works has made 1 million 536 thousand 193 tons of pipes of various assortment, or 53% more than parameters of 2005 having totalled 1 million 758 tons.
Manufacture of the large-diameter pipes in December 2006 has made 114 thousand 985 tons in comparison with 53 thousand 270 tons in December 2005. In total for 2006 manufacture of the large-diameter pipes has made 843 thousand 141 tons, almost twice as many as parameters of 2005, which totalled 432 thousand 53 tons.
Substantial growth of volume of manufacture of the large-diameter pipes was promoted by successful participation of ОМК in the projects of the leading oil and gas companies on construction of the main pipelines. So, Vyksa Metal Works supplied over 225 thousand tons of pipes of 1420 mm-diameter for construction of the North-European Gas Pipeline to OJSC “Gazprom” in 2006, and approximately 168 thousand tons of pipes to AK “Transneft” for the construction of a pipeline “Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean”.
The wheel-rolling complex of Vyksa Metal Works in December 2006 made 72 thousand 118 pieces of railway wheels (in December 2005 - 71 thousand 446 pieces), including 9 thousand 252 pieces - on export. For 2006, 805 thousand 379 wheels have been made in comparison with 800 thousand 693 pieces in 2005. Export deliveries in 2006 made 100 thousand 165 wheels.
