Transconverter Launches the Serial Production of Static Converters for Demikhovsky Electric Trains
OREANDA-NEWS. Transconverter launched the implementation of the first serial production order for auxiliary static converters (PSN80 U1) in December, 2006.
According to the press service of Transmashholding, the equipment will be used for ED4MKM – AERO trains manufactured by Demikhovsky Engineering Plant (DMZ).
The auxiliary static converter is designed to provide power supply for all train equipment except tractive motors.
So far the Transconverter has been producing sporadic static converters under its R&D program.
The order size is four converters. One of them designed for the new eight-car train has been sent to DMZ. Transconverter will have tested another PSN80 U1 before the end of 2006 and the set will be ready to be mounted on ED4MKM-AERO in February, 2007.
The static converter has been manufactured in cooperation with the Siemens (German concern) with application of German techniques. It has no power increase limits whereas the previous generation models capacity was up to 55 kW. When compared with formerly used rotary converter the PSN80 U1 is three times lighter weighting 800 kg against some two metric tons.
The total of 60 per cent of the converter component parts is manufactured in Russia. The production is to be further localized in the future.
