OREANDA-NEWS. Transmashholding implemented its obligations under the contract implying the delivery of six three-car metro strains for Sofia metro (Bulgaria) in December, 2006.

According to the press service of “Transmashholding”, the final train of two light metro 81-740.2 leading cars and one 81-741.2 intermediate car manufactured by Metrovagonmash has been shipped.

The final metro train delivered to Bulgaria will become operational in January, 2007.

The contract concerning the delivery of six metro trains was concluded between the JSC Metrovagonmash and Sofia metro on October 19, 2004. The Metrovagonmash produce has been delivered to Bulgaria since 1996.

As of now Sofia metro numbers 48 cars designated 81-717 and 12 cars designated 81-740.2/741.2 manufactured by Metrovagonmash, totaling 100 percent of the Bulgaria capital metro car fleet. Another metro train comprising 81-740.2/741.2 Metrovagonmash cars delivered to Bulgaria this November will be taken into service soon.
