OREANDA-NEWS. A member of the board of directors of the Norilsky Nikel mining and steel plant Gi de Seliye has won a Director of the Year award for 2006 in the Independent Director nomination, Norilsky Nikel’s press service reports. 

The organizers of the competition are the Association of Independent Directors and the international PricewaterhouseCoopers auditing firm.

In the run-up to the finals, the organizers screened 166 independent directors from 90 companies. Both state-run and commercial companies from all the economy sectors, as well as the financial sector, were represented in the competition.

Gi de Seliye has sat on the Norilsky Nikel board since 2002. Since 2004, he has been appointed chair of the board committee on the audit. The committee deals with the issues of preparing financial reports according to international standards.
