OREANDA-NEWS. UralmashSpecStal, a part of OMZ-SpecStal division of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), has signed contracts worth EUR 4.5 million with Mittal Steel Temirtau (Kazakhstan) and Mittal Steel Skopje (Macedonia), both part of Arcelor Mittal, for delivery of over 1,700 tons of rolls for hot and cold rolling mills in 2007.

According to the press service of OMZ, it is expected that further contracts worth EUR 2.5 Million will also be signed in the near future, with Mittal Steel Galati (Romania), Mittal Steel Ostrava (Czech Republic) and Mittal Steel Poland (Poland).

In addition, Arcelor Mitall and UralmashSpecStal representatives have reached a preliminary agreement on delivery of UralmashSpecStal products to plants of Arcelor Mittal: Arcelor Brasil-CST, Arcelor Brasil-Vega do Sul (Brazil), Bremen (Germany), Gent and Dunkirk (Belgium), Belvol (Luxemburg) and Arcelor Madrid (Spain).

On 21 November, representatives of Arcelor Mittal, OMZ and UralmashSpecStal held talks in Paris. They signed an agreement on delivery of a trial 500-tonne lot of cold rolls and high-chromium support rolls.

In January 2007, UralmashSpecStal specialists will visit a number of Arcelor Mittal plants in Europe to hold final discussions on all technical matters. On 23 November, the UralmashSpecStal delegation visited one of Arcelor Mittal's enterprises in Belgium.


UralmashSpecStal currently has almost RUR 1 billion in contracts for rolls. About a half involve exports, with that proportion expected to rise to 60% next year.

The enterprise produces four types of steel forged rolls - backup and working rolls for hot and cold rolling mills and used for the production of rolled metal ranging from the finest sheet metal and foil to thick plates and large billets.

UralmashSpecStal owns the whole roll production cycle, including steelmaking, forging, heat treatment and mechanical processing, as well as processing on high-accuracy roller-grinding machines.
