OREANDA-NEWS. The pilot Russian freight DC locomotive designated 2EС4К Donchak manufactured by the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant is undergoing thorough tests scheduled to last until the mid-2007.

According to the press service of Transmashholding, as of now the train is going through the production monitoring and preliminary tests. Adjustment checks have already been made to be followed by electrical, technical and aerodynamic tests.

The microprocessor control system is also being set up. In 2007, the electric locomotive will be covering 5,000 km, undergoing preliminary, acceptance and certification tests, the latter two combined.

The locomotive will be given a certificate upon passing all the tests. The decision to produce a pilot batch of electric locomotives will begin the plant preparations for Donchak serial production.
