OREANDA-NEWS. OJSC “Olenegorsk GOK” has signed the contract with Global Technology on delivery of two auto-dumpers Unit Rig of model МТ 3300 AC made by Terex Mining (USA).

According to the press-service of OJSC “Olenegorsk GOK”, roughly the equipment should be delivered to the enterprise in April 2007. Today, 9 auto-dumpers Unit Rig, which have been got within 2005-2006, are maintained in the open-pits of Olenegorsk GOK.

Olenegorsk GOK is developing five deposits of ferriferous quartzite. Deposits are located in the central part of Kola Peninsula. The basic ore minerals are magnetite and hematite.

"Olkon" now is realizing the program on transition from extraction of ore by the open way to extraction of ore on underground mines.

"Olkon" plans to stop extraction of ore in the open-pits by 2024 and completely pass to development of underground mines. Development of these mines will allow "Olkon" to keep ore base till 2050.
