World Production of Crude Steel Increased by 8.8% in September 2006
OREANDA-NEWS. The International Iron & Steel Institute published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in September 2006 has made 101 million 357 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of September 2005 by 8,8 %.
Asia produced 54 million 996 thousand tons of steel (14 %). In China output made 36 million 162 thousand tons (18,5 %). In Japan production made 9 million 612 thousand tons (4,8 %), in South Korea - 4 million 107 thousand tons (4,1 %), in India - approximately 3 million 400 thousand tons (5,2 %), in Taiwan - approximately 1 million 715 thousand tons (23,2 %).
Crude steel production in 25 EU countries in September 2006 made 15 million 725 thousand tons (2,1 %). In Germany output made 4 million 27 thousand tons (11,2 %), in Italy - 2 million 642 thousand tons (6,3 %), in France - 1 million 590 thousand tons (2,4 %), in Spain - approximately 1 million 260 thousand tons (-19,9 %), in the Great Britain - 1 million 81 thousand tons (5,2 %), in Belgium - 950 thousand tons (15,6 %).
The CIS countries produced 9 million 751 thousand tons of steel (4 %). In Russia output made 5 million 693 thousand tons (4,8 %), in Ukraine - 3 million 352 thousand tons (3,7 %).
Northern America produced 10 million 690 thousand tons of steel (2,9 %). In the USA output made approximately 8 million 40 thousand tons (3,5 %), in Mexico - approximately 1 million 230 thousand tons (0,8 %).
In South America production made 4 million 33 thousand tons (8,9 %). Brazil made 2 million 757 thousand tons (6,5 %).
In Africa output totalled 1 million 432 thousand tons of steel (-1,2 %). In the Near East production made 1 million 180 thousand tons (-4,5 %).
