World Production of Crude Steel Increased by 9.3% in January-September 2006
OREANDA-NEWS. The International Iron & Steel Institute published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in January-September 2006 has made 903 million 389 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of January-September 2005 by 9,3 %.
Asia produced 477 million 200 thousand tons of steel (13,1 %). China’s output totalled 308 million 438 thousand tons (18,4 %). Japan have made 86 million 64 thousand tons (1,8 %), in South Korea - 35 million 980 thousand tons (1,8 %), in India - 31 million 406 thousand tons (14,1 %), in Taiwan - 15 million 313 thousand tons (8,8 %).
Crude steel production in 25 EU countries in January-September 2006 made 147 million 997 thousand tons (5,8 %). In Germany output totalled 35 million 225 thousand tons (5,7 %), in Italy - 23 million 222 thousand tons (6,9 %), in France - 15 million 115 thousand tons (4,2 %), in Spain - 13 million 240 thousand tons (-2,6 %), in the Great Britain - 10 million 593 thousand tons (6,3 %), in Belgium - 8 million 684 thousand tons (10,6 %).
In the CIS countries output of crude steel made 88 million 895 thousand tons of steel (6,6 %). In Russia production made 52 million 566 thousand tons (7,4 %), in Ukraine - 30 million 369 thousand tons (7,3 %).
Northern America produced 100 million 377 thousand tons of steel (6,6 %). In the USA output made 75 million 631 thousand tons (9 %), in Mexico - 11 million 762 thousand tons (-4,2 %).
In South America production totalled 33 million 817 thousand tons (-0,1 %). Brazil made 22 million 772 thousand tons (-3,7 %).
In Africa output was 12 million 631 thousand tons of steel (-4,6 %). In the Near East production made 11 million 56 thousand tons (1,4 %).
