OREANDA-NEWS. Mechel OAO (NYSE: MTL), one of the leading vertically-integrated mining and metals companies, announced today its operational results for the nine months of 2006.

According to the data of the company, Mechel produced 12 million 378 thousand tons (+6% against same parameter of 2005), from which 6 million 938 thousand tons (+7%) coking coal and 5 million 440 thousand tons (+5%) of power coal.

For January-September 2006, Mechel produced 3 million 748 thousand tons of iron ore concentrate (+11%), 10.53 thousand tons of nickel (+17%), 451 thousand tons of hardware (+9%), 54 thousand tons of forgings, 76 thousand tons of stampings (-1%), 3 million 523 thousand tons of rolled products (+2%), 4 million 425 thousand tons of steel (0), 2 million 680 thousand tons of iron (+8%) and 1 million 663 thousand tons of coke (-15%).
