Theaters are Opening Ahead of Schedule in St. Petersburg
OREANDA-NEWS. According to the press service of the city administration, COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed in St. Petersburg and today the theaters of St. Petersburg are ready to receive the first spectators of the new year.
Earlier, due to the high incidence of COVID-19 in the city, restrictions were imposed on the work of cultural institutions from December 30 to January 10. In the last days of the New Year holidays, art groups promptly updated their posters and are ready to present more than 30 performances to the public.
Spectators for Christmas performances are waited by such well-known theaters as the Mariinsky, Alexandrinsky and Mikhailovsky theaters, the Lensovet Theater, "Shelter of the Comedian" and other venues in the city. The most popular Christmas ballet "The Nutcracker" can be seen at the Mariinsky and Alexandrinsky theaters, a children's version at the Mikhailovsky Theater. Shows of the performances "Dunno on the Moon", "Treasure Island", "Morozko", "The Snow Queen" and others are also organized for children. The ballet "Christmas Eve" at the Mariinsky will be presented in a new version by the ballet master Ilya Zhivoi. The new stage version will be shown under the direction of Valery Gergiev.
All sanitary requirements must be strictly followed. Theaters are obliged to comply with anti-epidemiological measures: the halls are allowed to fill no more than 25%, spectators must wear masks, it is forbidden to visit the theater for organized groups of children under 16 years old.
