The documentary "Navalny" was awarded the Oscar

OREANDA-NEWS The Academy Award in the nomination "Best Documentary" was awarded to the motion picture "Navalny" (Navalny) by American director Daniel Roer. He shot the film from the moment when opposition politician Alexei Navalny came out of a coma at the Berlin clinic "Charite" until his return to Russia in January 2021. The ceremony was attended by the politician's wife Yulia, along with her daughter Daria and son Zakhar.
The film was shot on the Max Original platform and with the support of CNN. The film won the British Film Academy Award (BAFTA). In addition, she took the award at Sundance as a favorite of the festival and received the audience award there. "Volcano of Love" directed by Sara Dosa, "House of Chips" (Simon Lereng Wilmont), "Everything that Breathes" (Shaunak Sen), "All Beauty and Bloodshed" (Laura Poitras) also competed for the title of best documentary at the Oscars.
Navalny is currently serving time in the maximum security colony No. 6 in Melekhovo, Vladimir region. In February 2021, he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison in the Yves Rocher case. In 2022, he was sentenced to nine years under the article on fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and insulting participants in the trial (Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Nine years is the term for the totality of all punishments.
