OREANDA-NEWS. The director of the Bolshoi Theater, 74-year-old Vladimir Urin, was hospitalized on the evening of October 16. He had a heart attack and needed surgery. This is reported by the Telegram channel MASH.
An ambulance arrived at his home on Petrovsko-Razumovskaya Alley. At the hospital, he underwent a coronography, which resulted in the diagnosis of coronary heart disease and vascular stenosis. In the capital's clinic, Urina was stented and put in intensive care. Now his condition is serious. Unstable angina pectoris, atherosclerosis of the aorta-coronary vessels is observed.
Earlier, Urin said that the Bolshoi Theater canceled performances of artists abroad until March 2022. The reason is the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The director of the Bolshoi noted that the theater has withstood a rather difficult season since the outbreak of the disease, but despite the epidemic, «we have fulfilled all the plans that we planned for this season», but some of the performances had to be postponed.
Returning to the topic of COVID-19, Urin added that in addition to financial losses, the theater experienced problems with infected GABT employees. According to him, at the peak of the pandemic in November 2020, 150 people were infected in the institution.
