The Court in Minsk Recognized the Book «Belarusian Donbass» as Extremist
OREANDA-NEWS. The court of the Oktyabrsky district of Minsk issued a decision on the case of the book of the journalist of the Polish TV channel «Belsat» Katerina Andreeva, who was sentenced to two years in prison and her husband, also a journalist of «Belsat», Igor Ilyash. On Friday, March 26, the book «Belarusian Donbass» was recognized as extremist, local media reported.
According to «Euroradio», the book is now banned in the country. In addition, a court hearing is scheduled in the case of journalist Roman Vasyukovich, who brought her to Belarus.
Andreeva and Ilyash worked on a book about those who fought in the Donbass on both sides of the conflict for several years. Among other topics, it raises the relationship of the Belarusian special services to the parties of the conflict and the illegal business of Belarusian companies, including state-owned ones, with firms that, according to the Security Service of Ukraine, finance terrorism.
In December 2020, customs officers seized several copies of «Belarusian Donbass» from Vasyukovich, who arrived from Ukraine, because they saw signs of extremism in it. A protocol was drawn up against the journalist.
