OREANDA-NEWS. The portrait of Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky has appeared on the billboard of the Spotify audio streaming service in Times Square in New York. According to RIA Novosti, the large-scale image was posted on Friday, December 18.

Earlier, on December 8, Spotify has listed the names of the most popular Russian musicians among foreign listeners. Tchaikovsky appeared to be the absolute leader in the rating.

"The outdoor advertising with the image of the great Russian composer was placed on Times Square in New York to commemorate and to pay tribute to the work of Tchaikovsky ," said the representative of the service in Russia.

Spotify service also noted that the monthly audience of Tchaikovsky’s music on the audio streaming service had reached 4.8 million listeners around the world.

Ilya Alekseev, CEO of Spotify in Russia and the CIS, noted that the work of Russian performers resonates in the hearts of foreign listeners. “It is doubly pleasant if this is an immortal classic by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, especially relevant during the holiday season,” he said.

On December 2, Spotify also summed up the rating of the music preferences of Russian users over the past four months. The leaders were hip-hop and relaxation music. Data collection has been performed by the Spotify service since its launch in Russia on July 15, 2020.
