Putin Instructed to Increase the Subsidy for Russian Cinema by 1 Billion Rubles
OREANDA-NEWS The President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed to increase the subsidies for the support of the Russian family and animated movies at RUB 1 billion annually. This was reported on the Kremlin website.
The subsidies will cover the production and distribution of films for children and family audiences, as well as "unique author's national animated films of leading Russian Directors-animators". They will begin to increase from 2019.
Putin also instructed to give the Cinema Fund functions to support these movies. The report on these issues should be submitted to the President by June 15 this year.
According to the study "Russian film industry — 2017", the state has allocated 6 billion rubles.as subsidies for film production in 2017. Half of the funds were transferred through the film Fund, the other — through the Ministry of culture directly.
The press service of the Ministry of Culture told that in 2018 the Ministry allocated 3,992 billion rubles for 85 feature and 271 non-feature films to support the cinema.
At the same time, according to the latest estimates of the Сinema Fund, 8% of Russian films pay off, and with state support — 12%.
The Сinema Fund has awarded grants to 4,345 billion rubles. While 39 already removed. Financial support was provided by another 45 games. It is noted that the box office of the paintings "Movement up", "Ice", "Coach" and "Tanks" amounted to 10.5 billion rubles, or 75.7% of the collections of Russian films.
In November 2018, the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky said that since 2020, the Сinema Fund can increase the volume of state subsidies by reducing assistance from the Ministry of culture.
