Petition Against Sia's Film "Music" Gains Tens Of Thousands Of Signatures
OREANDA-NEWS. The petition, in which users demand to deprive the film of singer Sia (Sia Ferler) "Music" ("Music") nominations for the "Golden Globe", has collected more than 85 thousand signatures.
In early February, the tape was nominated for a prestigious film award in two categories "Best Film - Comedy or Musical" and "Best Actress - Comedy or Musical" (Kate Hudson).
The authors of the petition, Rosanna Kataya and Nina Skov Jensen, who is diagnosed with autism, called the picture "extremely eiblistic" and said that it "forms a misconception about autistic people." Eyblim is a type of discrimination in which able-bodied people are seen as normal and superior to people with disabilities, which leads to prejudice against the latter.
Sia has previously revealed that her film is "a love letter to the autistic community." However, Kataya and Skov Jensen disagree with her. In the text of the petition, they noted that some fragments are filled with bright lights, loud sounds and rapid camera movements - all this negatively affects the condition of people with autism.
They also did not like how actress Maddie Ziegler played a girl with this type of mental disorder. In their opinion, it looks more like a mockery.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which awards the Golden Globes, has not yet responded to the activists' demands.
