Due to the ongoing pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, large-scale festivities, including the festival on Tverskaya Street, will not be held in 2020. will be ", - said in the message of the mayor's press service.

Despite this, the main festive events will be held in parks, regional festival venues and cultural institutions.

The theme of the celebration this year will be "Museum Moscow". Muscovites and guests of the capital will be able to visit 90 Moscow museums and exhibition halls free of charge. In order to ensure sanitary and epidemiological safety, the visit will be organized by appointment, which will open on September 1.

It is noted that the festive events will be held in compliance with all the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor.

Earlier in August, Sobyanin, in an interview with Russia 24, also said that in September 2020 there would be no large-scale City Day celebrations in Moscow due to the coronavirus. He admitted that the mayor's office had a desire to hold the City Day on a full scale, but the situation was not conducive to this. Mass events will be limited, and the holiday itself will be "localized", the mayor said.
