According to Loub, the authors of the series Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Morissa Tancharoen planned to finish the show for the fifth season, but the ABC channel liked the material so much that he asked them to make another season from 13 episodes. Later, the creators of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. received another call. This time from ABC President Channing Dungi, who asked them for the seventh season. 

However, the authors decided that this time they would definitely complete the series on their own terms. Last season, they intend to tie all the ends together and come to an end that will satisfy the fans of the show, the cast, Marvel and ABC. 

The premiere of the seventh season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is expected in 2020. Like the sixth season, it will consist of 13 episodes instead of 22.
