OREANDA-NEWS. The picture of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo "Portrait of a Woman in White" was sold at Christie's auction in New York for $ 5.8 million, according to the website of the auction house. This painting, painted around 1929, was presented by Frida Calo to the photographer Lola Alvarez Bravo. Since then, she has been in private collections.

As stated in the message on the bidding website, for a long time it was believed that in the picture, Kahlo depicted her friend - American Dorothy Brown Fox. But, as the auction house notes, according to recent studies, the Russian immigrant and doctor Elena Boder could be a model. At the auction also bought a different picture of the artist. "Flower Basket" went for $ 3.1 million

Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) is a well-known Mexican artist, she has written more than 100 paintings in her life. Her works are in world museums and among private collectors around the world.
