OREANDA-NEWS. The State Russian Museum opens an exhibition of Konstantin Somov, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the artist. The exhibition will work in Mikhailovsky Castle from August 8 to November 4.

  Konstantin Somov is the author of "gallant scenes", magnificent paintings and portraits of the great representatives of the Silver Age. . At the Academy of Fine Arts, he studied in the workshop of Ilya Repin, then joined the World of Art Association, which was created by Alexander Benois, Sergey Diaghilev, the organizer of the famous Russian Seasons, and Dmitry Filosofov. One of Somov's most famous works was erotic illustrations for the courtesy collection “Marquise book.” The artist left the country in 1923, then settled in France and never returned to Russia.

  The exhibition presents more than 100 works of Somov from the 1890s and 30s from the collections of the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the research museum of the Russian Academy of Arts and private collections in Moscow. Among them are recognized masterpieces of the master “portrait of Anna Karlovna Benois” (1896), “in a bosquet” (1899), “Portrait of A. P. Ostroumov” (1901), “mocking Kiss” (1908), “Harlequin and a lady” (1912 ), “in the forest” (1914), “winter. Skating rink” (1915), “the language of Columbine” (1913-1915) and others, the report said.
