In London, Monument to Harry Potter Is Erected
OREANDA-NEWS. The monument to the wizard Harry Potter, the protagonist of a series of books by British writer J. K. Rowling, was erected in Leicester Square located in the central part of London.
The bronze statue was installed not far from the cinema Odeon, where the premiere of the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone took place in 2001. It represents a wizard flying on a broomstick.
This monument became the ninth in a row, along with other statues of various movie characters installed nearby. In particular, the monuments to Mary Poppins, Paddington Bear, Mr. Bean and Batman are located there.
The seven-volume series about Harry Potter was released during the period between 1997 and 2007. The books have been published with a total circulation of 450 million copies; they have been translated into 79 languages. A number of films were made on them.
