OREANDA-NEWS. French actor Claude Brasseur, who has played in more than a hundred films, died on December 22 at the age of 84. This is reported by Agence France-Presse with reference to the actor's agent Elizabeth Tanner.

The actor's agent said that Claude Brasseur died today in peace and tranquility, surrounded by loved ones. He did not die of the coronavirus, as some might think. According to Elisabeth Tanner, he will be buried in the Pere Lachaise cemetery in the French capital next to his father, another actor Pierre Brasseur.

Claude Pierre Epinasse was born in 1936 in Neuilly-sur-Seine near Paris. His creative career began at the Théâtre de Paris in 1955. Already in 1956, he starred in his first film - "Meeting in Paris" directed by Georges Lampen, where he played a cameo role. Since then, his creative list includes more than three dozen theatrical plays and more than a hundred films.

The most successful for him were the pictures "And Elephants Are Wrong" (1976) and "Hero of the Police" (1979), for which he was awarded the French Cesar Film Awards. He was also an officer of the Legion of Honor and holder of the Order of Merit.

The godfather of Brasseur was the writer Ernest Hemingway, the actor starred with Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, and other famous directors. He played with Sophie Marceau in Claude Pinotto's Boom and Boom 2.
