OREANDA-NEWS. The film distributor “Twentieth Century Fox SNG” announced that the American black comedy “Jojo Rabbit” in which the imaginary Adolf Hitler appears will not be shown in Russian cinemas. The company did not explain why the movie will not be released.

The film was directed by Taika Vaitichi from New Zealand. He is known with his movies “What We Do in the Shadows” and “Thor: Ragnarok”. The roles in “Jojo Rabbit” were performed by Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson and Alfie Allen.

International premiere took place on September 8 at the Toronto Film Festival. The film received the audience award.

The events in the film take place during the Second World War. 10-year-old boy Jojo, who lives in Germany, tries to avoid being alone and makes an imaginary friend Adolf Hitler who helps Jojo to realize the horrors of Nazi ideology. The character of “the Fuerer” is quite different with the real leader of the Third Reich. Film’s Hitler is a cheerful and mischievous.

The appearance of Hitler on the screen made nervous the representatives of Disney company, which owns “Twentieth Century Fox.” In spite of it, the film will be released worldwide on October 18.

At the beginning of 2018, the British satirical black-comedy film “The Death of Stalin” by Armando Iannucci was also prohibited for demonstration in Russia. Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky said that Russian spectators would see an insulting mockery on the Soviet reality in the film.
