Bali authorities monitor social networks of Russian tourists

OREANDA-NEWS Bali immigration officers monitor the social networks of Russian travelers, checking for possible violations of visa rules, thanks to this method, two tourists from the Russian Federation were deported on Monday, said Deputy head of the department Ngurah Rai Sugito.
According to him, two Russian citizens who taught compatriots to ride a motorcycle in Bali "got caught" by the immigration service precisely thanks to publications on social networks. Tourists were deported from Indonesia the day before.
"The arrest of these foreigners who abused their visas began with the collection of data. Our officers are not limited to field patrols, they also monitor tourists through social networks. We are also greatly helped by the Indonesian community, which actively informs us about alleged immigration violations by foreigners," Sugito explained, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday.
On Monday, March 20, Indonesia deported 47 people from Bali, including 13 Russian citizens, due to non-compliance with tourist visa rules. The Russian Embassy in Indonesia confirmed the deportation and urged Russians to comply with the laws and customs of this country in order to avoid such an outcome. Earlier, the embassy told RIA Novosti that they see no signs of an imminent cancellation of visas on arrival for Russians.
