Parks Canada is organizing a day of events for the whole family at Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site
OREANDA-NEWS. Parks Canada is organizing a day of events for the whole family at Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site on Friday, August 19th.
Storyteller and musician Jacques Bujold (a.k.a M’sieur Bujo) will perform his show L’?le magique. A presentation on underwater archaeology, an origami workshop, face painting, a talk, and other surprises await you! Even our mascot, Parka, will be there to celebrate! Families are also invited to have a picnic on the grounds and take advantage of the magnificent historical site at the edge of the Restigouche River.
Battle of the Restigouche National Historic Site lets you relive the last naval battle between France and Britain for possession of North American territory. Come admire the remains of the wreck of the Machault, which has been underwater for over 200 years. Charged with protecting French merchant vessels from the British, this 26-gun sailing vessel is one of only three 18th century French frigates discovered to date in the world.
As we near the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Government of Canada invites Canadians to experience Canada’s remarkable natural heritage and rich history in national parks and national historic sites this summer.
