OREANDA-NEWS  Russian actor Yuri Borisov has become a nominee for the American Golden Globe Award for his role in the film "Anora" by American director Sean Bakery.

Borisov became a contender for the award in the category "Best supporting role". The list of nominees was announced on Monday.

Borisov will compete with Kieran Culkin for the film "Real Pain", Edward Norton for the film "Perfect Stranger", Guy Pearce for the film "Brutalist", Jeremy Strong for the film "The Apprentice" and Denzel Washington, "Gladiator 2".

Previously, Bakery's film was awarded the Palme d'Or, the main award, at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The winning film is set in Brooklyn, the main character is a young sex worker who is married by the son of a Russian oligarch. The groom's parents, after learning about the incident, come to New York to sort everything out and annul the marriage.

The Golden Globe is an American award awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association since 1944 for work in motion pictures and television pictures. The Golden Globe is awarded every year in January by a vote of about 90 international journalists living in Hollywood.
