A Memorial Service was Held in Moscow for the Famous Soviet Actor Lanovoy, Died from Coronavirus
OREANDA-NEWS. In the Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow, a civil memorial service was held for the People's Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy, who died from the effects of coronavirus infection in late January at the age of 87.
Several hundred people, including officials, artists, and cultural figures came to say goodbye to the artist. There were the first Deputy head of presidential administration Sergey Kiriyenko, the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova and the Ministry of defense of Russia Sergey Shoigu among them, according to «Interfax».
The artist was escorted to his last journey with applause. Vasily Lanovoy was buried today, February 1, at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow. The coffin with the body of the beloved actor was buried with military honors.
«Vasily Lanovoy was a pillar of the Vakhtangov Theater, who always sincerely believed in what he did», Russian artist Yevgeny Knyazev told reporters.
