OREANDA-NEWS YouTube video hosting has completely suspended all YouTube monetization functions for Russian users, including Premium subscription, Music Premium, sponsorship, superchat, superstikers and merch, the corresponding notification was received by the authors of the videos from Russia.

"This means that YouTube authors will temporarily stop receiving income from these functions in Russia. These changes do not apply to viewers outside of Russia," the report says.

At the beginning of March, the video hosting temporarily turned off advertising to Russian users due to "extraordinary circumstances" and events in Ukraine, advertising also disappeared in the Google search engine. It is called the main way of earning money in YouTube, the income from advertising impressions is distributed between the platform and the authors of the video connected to the video hosting partner program.

At that time, the authors of YouTube videos in Russia could earn money in alternative ways, the income from which was shared by video hosting — with the help of a monthly YouTube Premium subscription, which allows you to watch videos without ads; additional paid functions - superchats and superstikers; monthly contributions as part of the sponsorship function, which gives access to exclusive content.

At the end of February, YouTube banned the monetization of a number of Russian media, including RT, because of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine.
