OREANDA-NEWS. The American newspaper Washington Post named the reason why US President Joe Biden still has not called the head of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to American journalists, the reason for this is the desire of the White House to encourage the president of Ukraine to fight widespread corruption in the country, because it is vital to stabilize the Ukrainian economy and "preserve Kiev's fragile independence" from Russia.

The Washington Post recalled that Zelenskiy came to power promising to fight oligarchs, problems in the judicial system and organized crime, but changed his policy during his presidency.

As the newspaper writes, the Ukrainian leader fired the reformers in his office and the president of the central bank, and also slowed down judicial reforms and the fight against oligarchs, in particular, actions against Igor Kolomoisky. These actions of the Ukrainian president, in turn, led to the refusal of the International Monetary Fund to continue payments on the $ 5 billion loan, without which the country, as the authors of the article believe, will probably not be able to pay off the debt at the end of this year.
