OREANDA-NEWS. US authorities note the vulnerability of the Zoom video conferencing service used for online meetings to hacker attacks by foreign governments, including the PRC authorities. This was announced on Tuesday by ABC television, citing a report by the US Department of Homeland Security.

"The sudden increase in the popularity of Zoom and its use by both the public and private sectors leads to the fact that the service begins to be vulnerable and becomes a target for attacks. Any organization that already uses Zoom or is thinking about using it should assess the possible risks", noted in the report of the power department.

Particular attention is paid to the fact that the application and updates to it are partially developed in China. "China's access to Zoom servers provides Beijing with unique opportunities to work with American users", the text says. 

In turn, the representative of Zoom, commenting on the relevant conclusions of the ministry, said that the information presented "isn't true and includes inaccurate information about the structure of the service". He added that the company has 17 data centers around the world, but only one of them is located in China.
