Ukrainian President Zelensky: Crimea will Never Be Russian Territory
OREANDA-NEWS. Crimea will never become part of Russia, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He shared his opinion on the air of the TV channel "Dom".
"This is not their land. Their generations will not grow up here. And their children are not here, and they will not die for our land. It will never be Russian territory," he said, adding that the return of the peninsula to Ukraine is a matter of time.
Zelensky is also sure that no one can love Crimea the way Ukrainians do.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine said that he was doing everything to "return Crimea." For this purpose, the "Crimean Platform" was launched, the summit of which is scheduled for 23 August. Kiev offered to join the platform of the United States, Turkey, Great Britain, Canada and the countries of the European Union.
At the same time, Ukraine in 2014 introduced five blockades against Crimea: water, energy, transport, food and banking. In this regard, the republic announced plans to sue Kiev.
Russia has repeatedly stressed that Kiev's efforts to return Crimea to Ukraine are illegitimate and will be perceived as aggression, while the participation of any countries in initiatives such as the Crimean Platform is viewed by Moscow as an unfriendly step and a direct encroachment on the territorial integrity of the state.
According to President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue is "finally closed."
