Ukrainian General Explained Why Ukraine Cannot Accept Afghan Refugees
OREANDA-NEWS. The Ukrainian authorities have promised to accept 5,000 refugees from Afghanistan at a time when they do not have enough money to feed their own citizens. This was announced by the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Colonel General Anatoly Mogilev on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel.
According to him, the government is going to allocate for these purposes about 700 million hryvnia from the budget.
“We do not provide anything for our settlers from Donbass and Crimea, and we accept dozens of people from a country with a military conflict without any documents at all,” the serviceman noted, adding that this increases the likelihood of terrorist accomplices entering Ukraine.
Mogilev called the decision to admit refugees a "beautiful gesture" by Vladimir Zelensky before his visit to Washington, but in reality the country lacks funds for pensions or salaries for teachers and doctors.
At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities, who have promised to place 5,000 refugees in their country, have absolutely no idea where to place them and with what money to support them. The first batch of refugees who arrived in Ukraine at the end of August were sent to Odessa. At the same time, no additional funds for accommodation and arrangement of uninvited foreign guests were received by the Odessa budget.
The other day, Deputy Maxim Buzhansky at a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada asked an uncomfortable question to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, the same as the Ukrainian Colonel General Anatoly Mogilev:
“It became known that the government has invited 5,000 Afghan refugees to our country. We suddenly learned from the media that their content would cost half a billion hryvnia. Tell me, please, did your program include a clause that we will spend half a billion hryvnia on the maintenance of Afghan refugees? Or maybe we have included this in the 2021 budget? Or maybe we have already helped all refugees from Donbass? Or maybe we have enough money for everything?
