Two Game Developers from Russia Enter the Bloomberg Billionaires Index
OREANDA-NEWS. Two new billionaires have appeared in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI). They are the brothers Igor and Dmitry Bukhman, the founders of the computer game development company Playrix Holding Ltd. According to the estimate of Bloomberg agency each of them is worth about 1.4 billion dollars, and they have not previously appeared in a global wealth ranking.
The most popular products of Playrix Holding are match-three puzzle games Fishdom and Gardenscapes which are played by more than 30 million gamers worldwide and provide annual sales of 1.2 billion dollars. The annual revenue of the holding is estimated by analysts at 1.2 billion dollars, the company is in the top 10 game developers for iOS and Google Play.
The Bukhman brothers began to create computer games in 2001 in Russian city of Vologda, almost 300 miles (483 kilometers) north of Moscow, and earned 100 dollars for the first game. “We had no experience, no business understanding whatsoever – everything we could imagine was writing games,” Igor Bukhman said.
In 2004, the monthly revenue from the sale of games reached 10 thousand dollars, and the brothers registered the company Playrix.
Nowadays about 1.1 thousand people work at the holding. Its head office is located in Ireland, the developers are in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
In the winter of 2019, there were reports in the media that the Bukhmans could sell Playrix for 3 billion dollars, but they refused telling that this was not the price for which they could sell it.
