OREANDA-NEWS. Tinder, known for its mobile dating application, registered as an organizer of information dissemination on the Internet in pursuance of the requirements of Russian law, but didn't transfer any user data to law enforcement agencies, a company representative told the Russian media.
"We received a request for registration with the Russian authorities and at the moment we are registered to meet the requirements", the agency’s source said. “However, this registration in no way conveys any user or personal data to any Russian regulatory authorities, and we have not transmitted any data to their government”, a Tinder spokesman added. Also, the company didn't report whether they received requests for the transfer of any data.
Roskomnadzor entered the Tinder dating service into the register of information dissemination organizers on the Internet, which obliges it to store messages from Russian users as part of the “Yarovoi package” half a year and provide them at the request of law enforcement agencies. According to the Registry of information dissemination organizers on the Internet, the American company-developer Match Group, LLC, the owner of the application for romantic dating Tinder, has registered as information dissemination organizers on May 31.
A spokesman for Roskomnadzor, Vadim Ampelyonskiy, explained to journalists that the company was entered in the register after it provided the necessary information in response to a request from Roskomnadzor. He recalled that the information dissemination organizers registry "is formed by Roskomnadzor together with the bodies carrying out operational investigative activities and state security bodies in accordance with federal law".
