At a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Pushkov noted that from the point of view of the social demand for websites, Russia is not ready to abandon them now. According to him, 90 million people use YouTube. In the context of the current restrictive measures related to the epidemic, many people use YouTube to conduct their activities, including professional ones, and earn money. Pushkov said, that he discussed this topic repeatedly with «Roskomnadzor».

According to the head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, the main problem is the development of the national video platform. «We can live without Google as a search engine, increasing the capabilities of Yandex and our other platforms — Mail.ru, Rambler. But what we don't have is a TV on the Internet, we don't have a video platform that could compete with Youtube», the senator said. In his opinion, this is a really serious problem.
