OREANDA-NEWS The Japanese Sony Corporation will stop the free PlayStation Plus subscription for citizens of Ukraine from November 2024. This is reported by the CyberSlovo Telegram channel with reference to a notification from the Ukrainian division of PlayStation.

The decision will affect citizens of Ukraine who have PS4 and PS5 game consoles, Sony said in a statement. The corporation stressed that the free PlayStation Plus subscription since the beginning of hostilities in the country "has been an important manifestation of solidarity with the Ukrainian gaming community."

In October 2024, a similar subscription for Ukrainians will continue to operate. The letter to local users indicates that they will be provided with a voucher for 30 days of free access to the service. They will be able to receive an additional one in October. However, starting in November, residents of the country will no longer have such an opportunity, and from that time on, the subscription will have to be paid for.

As for Russia, Sony's management announced in March 2022 that sales of its PlayStation consoles in the country were suspended due to the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. In February 2024, the Japanese corporation limited the ability to activate video games in the Steam market in Russia and Belarus as a result of tougher sanctions.
