Russian Embassy: British Media Violate the Principle of Impartiality by Covering Rallies in Moscow

OREANDA-NEWS. The British media violate the principle of impartiality in covering illegal rallies in Moscow, which makes us wonder about their interest in undermining the domestic political situation in Russia. This is stated in a commentary circulated on Sunday evening by the Russian embassy in the UK.
"Once again, we are forced to note biased and impartial materials in the UK media on the detention of illegally protesting citizens in Moscow. In addition, the active participation of British media in rallies, as well as their apparent violation of the principles of impartiality in covering this topic, makes us think about their bias and direct interest in undermining the domestic political situation in our country, the embassy noted. "We would like to remind you that in the UK, organizers of mass riots may be sentenced to 10 years in prison. The British police also have the right to independently take measures involving the use of physical force and special means in the event of unauthorized or prohibited public events that impede the movement of vehicles or pedestrians".
On July 26, Ofcom, a British media regulator, fined Russian television channel RT £ 200,000 (about $ 250,000 at the current exchange rate) for violating broadcasting rules in the United Kingdom. In the course of the audit, Ofcom concluded that the TV channel "could not maintain proper impartiality in seven issues of news and analytical programs from March 17 to April 26, 2018".
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for Moscow, on Saturday, police and Rosguard detained about 600 people for participating in an uncoordinated rally, which was attended by approximately 1.5 thousand people. The authorities warned the protesters in advance about the liability and inadmissibility of breaking the law. The police warned of the risks of various provocations on the uncoordinated rally on August 3 and urged citizens and guests of the capital to refrain from participating in it.
