OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Embassy in Estonia commented on the statement by the deputy of the country's parliament and former commander of the Estonian Defense Forces Ants Laaneots that the Latvian army isn't able to defend its territory against the background of Russia's preparations for “some sort of aggression”.
The statement of Laaneots about the "impending aggression" on the part of Russia at the embassy was explained by the fact that "out of habit acquired over many years of service in the Soviet army", he continues to look at the outside world through the "tank sight".
“I would like to recommend Laaneotsu“ get out of the tank ”and turn to fulfill his current parliamentary duties, including as a member of the Riigikogu group for relations with the State Duma of the Russian Federation, where, as you might assume, he signed up without any coercion”, says in the message of the embassy published on the page of the diplomatic mission on Facebook.
Earlier, the former commander of the Estonian Defense Forces Ants Laaneots expressed his opinion on the Latvian television channel regarding the army of Latvia, calling it the "weak link" in the defense of the Baltic countries.
