Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko complained that Electronic Sector Was "Given Away" to Foreign Companies
OREANDA-NEWS Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko called for full independence of Russia from foreign electronics by 2030, reports RBC.
He noted that the authorities primarily supported electronics for the defense sector, and the civilian segment was "given without a fight" to foreign companies. As a result, the country is several years behind the world leaders, Chernyshenko said that it should be ordered "not just to copy, but to create something of its own."
He also listed a number of goals: Russian manufacturers of high-tech products should lead in the domestic market, domestic components should be used in production, the volume of exports should exceed the volume of supplies in the domestic market, enter the top 5 world manufacturers.
In addition, Russia must have its own unique production competencies or technological stages within the framework of global cooperation, and the share of the domestic electronic industry in GDP should increase threefold (in 2020 it was 2.2 percent).
Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov noted that active import substitution of civilian electronics is needed due to the threat of US sanctions. He proposed to create a separate program of his own electronic engineering.
Earlier it became known that the US authorities are preparing to restrict the supply of electronics to Russia in the event of an invasion of its troops on the territory of Ukraine.
