Russia's Roskomnadzor Demands to Fine Twitter, Google and Facebook
OREANDA-NEWS. Roskomnadzor has asked the court to fine the Internet companies Google, Facebook and Twitter for refusing to remove prohibited information at it's request. The relevant protocols were received by the 422nd World Judicial precinct of the Tagansky District of Moscow, Russian media «TASS» reported on Wednesday, May 5.
«The court received five reports against Google and Facebook. They are compiled according to Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (failure by the owner of a website or an information resource in the information and telecommunications network of the Internet to delete information if the obligation to delete such information is provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation). In relation to Twitter, the court received six similar reports», a representative of the court told the agency.
According to him, for each of the protocols, corporations face a fine of up to $53 thousand (4 million rubles). Thus, Google and Facebook can be fined $267 thousand, Twitter — $320 thousand. The review date has not yet been set, as indicated below.
